Data & coverage

LookThrough is built from Australian superannuation funds' own Portfolio Holdings Disclosure. This page sets out exactly what the dataset includes, what it leaves out, and where the figures come from. For how the figures are processed, see methodology.

Scope

The current dataset covers Australian superannuation investment options only. Each option's holdings come from its Portfolio Holdings Disclosure under section 1017BB (Schedule 8D), published twice a year. We add funds and options as their disclosures are ingested and verified.

Coverage so far

4 of 86 Australian super funds ingested so far — we add each fund as its disclosure is reviewed and verified.

What's included

  • Every disclosed holding in an option, with its value and weighting (Schedule 8D Table 1).
  • Asset-class allocation, with the synthetic derivative effect shown separately (Table 3).
  • Currency exposure, with the synthetic derivative effect shown separately (Table 4).
  • The reporting date each option's figures are “as at”, and the fund's disclosed portfolio value.
  • Cross-fund views: for any security, which funds and options disclose holding it.

What's omitted, and the limits

  • Internally-managed unlisted assets are frequently disclosed by name only — value reported at the asset-class level, not per line. We show these holdings explicitly (marked “name only”) and count their value within the asset-class allocation, so coverage is never overstated.
  • We do not look through pooled vehicles into their underlying holdings — only what the fund itself discloses.
  • Very small holdings round to a 0.00% weighting, so listed weightings may sum to just under 100%.
  • Figures are point-in-time and only as current as the visible reporting date.

Provenance

For each disclosure we keep an immutable copy of the original published file, identified by a content hash and fetch metadata, so every figure on the site is traceable to the exact source document. Restatements are loaded as new revisions; prior versions are superseded, never overwritten.

Refresh cadence

Portfolio Holdings Disclosure is a twice-yearly obligation, so each option's figures change at most twice a year, when the fund publishes a new disclosure. The reporting date shown on each page is the authority on how current the figures are.

Usage

The underlying disclosures are published by the funds under their regulatory obligations. LookThrough presents them as factual information — not financial advice, a rating, a ranking or a recommendation.

LookThrough shows the actual holdings inside Australian super funds, with cross-fund look-through.
